On the morning of 12 August 2026, the Faculty of Law hosted a summer faculty workshop themed “Functions, Development and Future of the Faculty‑Level Centers and Platforms”. A number of faculty members attended the event and held in‑depth discussions on platform development.
During the workshop, participants reviewed the current operation of existing research centers. They reached a consensus that these centers serve as vital vehicles for the Faculty to project its professional profile externally and expand academic exchanges. Such platforms are conducive to empowering teaching, advancing research‑oriented practice and elevating the Faculty’s overall academic reputation.
Faculty members conducted a focused discussion on the Macao Centre for Law and Finance. They exchanged open‑ended views on its research directions and recommended that the center conduct research on legal issues concerning Macao‑characteristic finance, green finance and cross‑border finance, so as to foster interaction between local legislation and the academic community. Participants also shared development experience of research centers at other universities and put forward plans for new platforms. It was agreed that new platforms should respond to the development needs of the Macao Special Administrative Region and pursue differentiated development pathways. Priority may be given to interdisciplinary fields such as green finance to cultivate distinctive strengths.
Workshop in Session
This workshop has clarified the three‑fold functions of the Faculty‑level centers and platforms: talent cultivation, academic research and social service. The Faculty will incorporate suggestions generated at the workshop, keep track of distinctive interdisciplinary and cutting‑edge topics, fully unlock the value of its research platforms and further expand its academic influence.
