Delegation from MUST Faculty of Law Visits the Law School of Shanghai University

On the afternoon of July 1, 2026, Professor Fang Quan, Associate Vice President and Dean of the Faculty of Law at Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), headed a delegation comprising Yi Zaicheng, Assistant Dean; Mou Xiaobo and Zhou Ting, Program Directors; and Assistant Professor Chen Qin for a visit to the Law School of Shanghai University. The delegation was warmly received by Yu Wei, Party Secretary of the Law School; Li Fengzhang, Deputy Party Secretary and Dean; Yuan Zhenfu, Vice Dean and Dean of the Intellectual Property School; and Jiang Xiaoshuang, Administrative Office Director.

Symposium Between Dean Fang Quan’s Delegation and the Law School of Shanghai University

During the discussion, Dean Fang expressed gratitude for the warm reception and delivered a detailed introduction to the Faculty of Law of MUST, covering its general operation, faculty strength, disciplinary strengths and major achievements in recent years. She noted that leveraging Macau’s geographic edge as a hub integrating Chinese and Western cultures, the faculty has cultivated distinctive strengths in comparative law, cross-border rule of law and international arbitration. All full-time teaching staff hold doctoral degrees with diverse overseas academic backgrounds. The faculty has built a complete talent training system spanning bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs, alongside multiple key research and rule-of-law platforms.

Dean Li Fengzhang extended a sincere welcome to the MUST delegation and systematically presented the Law School’s progress in talent cultivation, academic research, social services and international cooperation, with a special focus on its talent training philosophy of “international orientation and practice emphasis”. Party Secretary Yu Wei reviewed the school’s development history and current landscape, and explored prospective cooperation in continuous training of foreign-related legal professionals and joint research projects. Vice Dean Yuan Zhenfu shared the history of intellectual property talent training at Shanghai University, exchanging insights on the Master of Intellectual Property program and the “Golden Major Program”.

Both sides reviewed their long-standing friendly exchanges and cooperative ties. They reached a consensus to deepen interactions and mutual support in training outstanding legal talents, joint academic research, co-hosting academic events and disciplinary competitions.

This visit has laid a solid groundwork for deeper collaboration between the two law schools. Going forward, both institutions will adhere to the principles of complementary strengths and coordinated development. They will advance joint work in nurturing foreign-related legal professionals, sharing academic resources and conducting collaborative research, working together to boost high-quality legal education and rule-of-law development in Shanghai and Macao.
