On the morning of June 2, 2026, the Faculty of Law of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) held its 2026 Graduation Ceremony at the N101 Auditorium. Degrees were conferred upon graduates by Prof. Kwong Ying Wah, Vice President of MUST, and Prof. Fang Quan, Associate Vice President of MUST and Dean of the Faculty of Law. The ceremony acknowledged recipients of the Master of Laws, Juris Master, Master of Laws in Criminal Justice, Master of International Economic and Commercial Law, Master of International Arbitration, Master of Financial Crime and Regulation, as well as Bachelor of Laws degrees.
Members of the officiating party also included Prof. Yi Zaicheng, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Law; Program Directors Associate Prof. Bi Jingwei, Associate Prof. Peng Yunpeng and Assistant Prof. Mou Xiaobo; as well as faculty members Prof. Cao Xia, Prof. Yu Guanghua, Associate Prof. Huang Mingjian, Associate Prof. Wang Chuanhui, Associate Prof. Dai Mengliang, Assistant Prof. Zhu Feng, Assistant Prof. Xue Wenchao, Assistant Prof. Zhou Ting, Assistant Prof. Wang Jia, Assistant Prof. Zhang Chuanqi, Assistant Prof. Wong Weng Kuok, Assistant Prof. Liao Si, Assistant Prof. Guo Yiting, Assistant Prof. Man Tao, Assistant Prof. Gao Yang, Assistant Prof. Chen Guanhong, and Assistant Prof. Xun Xiao.
Also in attendance as honored guests were Mr. Lau Chak Kwong, Member of the Faculty of Law Advisory Committee and President of the Faculty of Law Alumni Association; Ms. Oriana Inacio Pun and Ms. Lou Sio Fong, Members of the Advisory Committee; and Mr. Lam Wai Kuen, Secretary General of the Alumni Association. Nearly 500 undergraduate and postgraduate graduates, together with their families and friends, attended the ceremony in person and via satellite venues to witness this proud occasion.

In her address, Dean Fang Quan extended warm congratulations to all graduates. She emphasized that legal professionals are not only empowered users of technology but also regulators of its development. She highlighted that the essence of legal work lies in understanding the complexities of human nature, balancing competing interests, and making judgments about justice and values. As technology advances, qualities such as empathy and conscience—beyond the scope of algorithms—become ever more valuable. Facing profound global transformations, she noted that legal professionals will stand at the forefront, both witnessing and shaping change. Dean Fang encouraged graduates to become “regulators of technology with warmth, participants in their era with resilience, and lifelong learners with purpose,” assuring them that their alma mater will always remain a steadfast support.

During the ceremony, Prof. Kwong Ying Wah and Dean Fang Quan jointly presided over the presentation of the “Honor Cord.” This distinction is awarded to undergraduate graduates with outstanding academic achievement, aiming to inspire excellence and foster a positive academic culture. This year, four students—Wu Xia, Cheng Ke, Li Xiangyu, and Yang Siting—were awarded the Second-Class Graduation Honor Cord.

Student representatives, Ms. Lo Pui Kei (postgraduate) and Ms. Wu Xia (undergraduate), delivered speeches in multiple languages, expressing their gratitude to the University and faculty members for their guidance and dedication. Reflecting on their academic journey—from exploring “what law is” to questioning “what law ought to be”—they emphasized that being a legal professional is both an honor and a responsibility. They encouraged fellow graduates to uphold the university motto, “Dedication to Truth, Pursuit of Knowledge,” and to carry forward the spirit of law with integrity and purpose in their future endeavors.

The ceremony concluded on a solemn and inspiring note as attendees sang the university anthem in unison. Faculty members and guests extended their best wishes to the graduates as they embark on a new chapter, encouraging them to uphold the ideals of the rule of law, contribute to society with professional expertise, and pursue a future of boundless promise.
