Faculty of Law Conducts Four Lectures for Undergraduate Freshmen

During October and November 2025, the Faculty of Law organized four lectures aimed at helping undergraduate freshmen adjust to the academic environment and campus life. The topics covered included " Introduction to Bachelor's Degree Programs in Law," "Experiences in Studying Law and Career Development in Macao," "Insights into Legal Careers and Academic Growth," and "Sharing of Learning Experiences in Law."

The first lecture themed "Introduction to Bachelor's Degree Program in Law" was held on October 3 in the N101 Auditorium, presented by Program Director Xie Gengliang. He began by highlighting prominent legal scholars and successful alumni, inspiring students to look for role models and set academic goals. The focus was on the structure of the bachelor's degree program, which includes courses on Mainland and Macao law. Professor Xie emphasized the importance of mastering English and Portuguese in legal studies, encouraging students to find their academic direction and fully engage in their learning process.

"Introduction to Bachelor's Degree Program in Law"


The lectured titled "Experiences in Studying Law and Career Development in Macao" was held on October 10, which featured Mr. Chang San Chi,  a lawyer from Lektou, with Professor Xie Gengliang once again leading the discussion. Mr. Chang shared insights about the local legal profession, detailing entry requirements, career opportunities, and his personal experiences in the field. His aim was to provide practical guidance for students as they plan their future careers.

"Introduction to Bachelor's Degree Program in Law"


Another lecture named "Insights into Legal Careers and Academic Growth" took place on October 30, also led by Professor Xie Gengliang. This session featured alumni Zhang Jiawei and Sun Chenhaojie, who shared their journeys as recipients of the “Dr. Liu Chak Wan Scholarships” from Oxford and Cambridge universities, respectively. They discussed effective study strategies, the criteria for admission to prestigious institutions, and their experiences studying abroad. The session encouraged enthusiastic participation from students, creating an engaging discussion atmosphere.

"Insights into Legal Careers and Academic Growth"


The series concluded with the lecture "Sharing of Learning Experiences in Law" on November 13. Hosted by Professor Xie Gengliang, this final event featured second-year student Chen Yitong and fourth-year student Wu Xia. Chen provided tips on literature review, case analysis, and effective study techniques, stressing the significance of general education courses. Wu shared her experiences with legal competitions and her exchange program at the Faculty of Law of the University of Augsburg, Germany. Both speakers encouraged their peers to establish learning goals early and get involved in practical activities.
