On the morning of October 16, 2024, the "Symposium on Frontier Issues in Foreign-Related Legal Affairs," hosted by the Faculty of Law at Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), was held in Conference Room R104 of Block R. The symposium featured Professor Huang Jin as the keynote speaker and was chaired by Professor Yi Zaicheng, Assistant Dean of the MUST Faculty of Law. Panelists included Professor Tu Guangjian, Programme Director of the University of Macau Faculty of Law, and MUST Faculty of Law Assistant Professors Zhu Feng, Wang Jia, and Gao Yang. Dean Fang Quan of the MUST Faculty of Law and nearly 50 postgraduate students attended the event.

Dean Fang Quan extended a warm welcome to Professor Huang Jin and presented him with a commemorative gift on behalf of the Faculty. Professor Huang Jin is a Senior Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at Wuhan University, former President of China University of Political Science and Law, and holds prominent roles including Vice President of the China Law Society, President of the Chinese Society of International Law, Vice President of the World Jurist Association (WJA), Arbitrator at the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), and advisor to China’s Supreme People’s Court and Supreme People’s Procuratorate.

In his keynote lecture titled "Frontier Issues in Foreign-Related Legal Affairs", Professor Huang Jin emphasized the critical importance of advancing research and development in foreign-related legal systems. He urged faculty and students to master the fundamental principles, rules, and applications of international law. He highlighted the need to understand the social foundations and legal nature of international law, clarify its relationship with domestic law, and explore its role in regulating global affairs across specific fields. Professor Huang expressed his hope that the MUST Faculty of Law would leverage Macau’s unique advantages to cultivate outstanding talents in foreign-related legal affairs—individuals equipped with a strong sense of national responsibility and the expertise to safeguard China’s interests through international law.

During the panel discussion, Professors Tu Guangjian, Zhu Feng, Wang Jia, and Gao Yang shared insights on strengthening foreign-related legal frameworks, improving international legal systems, and advancing research in public and private international law. Topics included the codification of international law, international organizational law, treaty law, and international dispute resolution. Students actively engaged with Professor Huang Jin during the Q&A session, fostering a vibrant academic atmosphere.
