The Faculty of Law at MUST hosted the second “Freshman Cup” Basketball Invitational

At noon on October 14, 2024, the second "Freshman Cup" Basketball Invitational, hosted by the Faculty of Law at the Macau University of Science and Technology, was successfully held at the University Gymnasium, Block J. This event received strong support from the Student Affairs Office, the Faculty of Law Students’ Association, and the Basketball Club of the Students’ Union at the Macau University of Science and Technology. The faculty aims to utilize this popular sporting event to help freshmen adapt to campus life, foster effective communication and interaction between teachers and students, and provide a platform for freshmen to showcase their athletic talents while enhancing mutual friendships.

The two teams competing in this tournament were primarily composed of freshmen from the Faculty of Law, class of 2024. The players in yellow uniforms represented Law Class 1: Chen Weiyu, Yi Linyunze, Zhao Hanbo, Su Yuxuan, Zhang Yuankun, Zhang Yuyang, Zhao Wenguang, and Wen Kaijie. The players in purple uniforms were from Law Class 2: Liu Angshuo, Xue Zhiqian, Shi Minghong, Zhang Zhiguo, Fei Bowen, Fang Chenzhi, and Li Kunlin. Both teams were prepared, and as soon as the whistle blew, they engaged in an intense duel. During the match, professors Yi Zaicheng, Peng Yunpeng, Zhang Chuanqiu, and Zhou Qin from the Faculty of Law joined the teams, competing alongside the students. They showcased impressive displays of aggressive offense, solid defense, seamless passing, remarkable steals, and accurate shooting.

The atmosphere at the competition was vibrant. The teachers and students of the Faculty of Law enthusiastically cheered for the participants, erupting in applause from time to time. After four rounds of intense competition, Law Class 1 emerged as the champion, while Law Class 2 secured the runner-up position.

Professors Zhang Chuanqi, Zhou Ting, and Zhou Qin presented certificates to the students who received the "Scoring King" and "Most Valuable Player" awards, respectively.

 

This event received a positive response from both teachers and students of the Faculty of Law. From the intensive preparations in the initial stages to the professional support on-site and the sportsmanship displayed during the competition, all participants demonstrated the unity, mutual assistance, courage, and commitment to campus life exhibited by the faculty and students of MUST.
