On March 5, 2024, Faculty of Law of Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) held a seminar on overseas summer courses and scholarship application in Room N212 block N., which aim to introduce the summer courses offered by the Law School of the University of Augsburg, Germany, the Alumni Scholarship of Faculty of Law of M.U.S.T. and other scholarships available for students to apply for. The event was explained by Professor Xie Gengliang, Program Director of Faculty of Law.
First of all, Professor Xie introduced the Summer Course on European and International Economic Law at the Law School of the University of Augsburg, Germany. The University of Augsburg (Universität Augsburg) is a large-scale comprehensive public university located in Augsburg, the third largest city in Bavaria, southern Germany. The Summer Course of European and International Economic Law is one of the courses offered by the Law School of Augsburg University for foreign students. In 2023, Faculty of Law of M.U.S.T. signed an agreement related to student exchange with the Law School of Augsburg University in Germany, in order to provide the opportunity to go overseas for exchange study. Students who are selected and recommended by the faculty will be exempted from the tuition fee of the course and will have the opportunity to attend a six-week professional course in Germany to gain a unique learning experience. It is expected that students will actively seize this rare opportunity.
Professor Xie then introduced the “Alumni Scholarship of Faculty of Law of M.U.S.T.”, which was established by the faculty to recognize students of Faculty of Law with excellent academic performance, as well as to encourage them to actively pursue further studies in world-famous law schools. The scholarships include the “Alumni Study Abroad Scholarship”, which encourages outstanding undergraduates to actively apply for master's degree programs in world-renowned law schools. Secondly, the “Alumni Merit Scholarship”, which aims to encourage undergraduate and graduate students to pursue degree programs of Faculty of Law of M.U.S.T.. Since 2021, several students have been awarded the Alumni Scholarship of faculty. Moreover, Professor Xie Gengliang provided a detailed description of the application conditions and procedures of the scholarships and encouraged students to apply for. In addition, Professor Xie also introduced the “Covington & Burling LLP Scholarship” and pointed out that the scholarship selection is by invitation. Our school is the only law school in Macau invited to apply for.
The students actively participated and asked questions. Professor Xie patiently answered students' questions about program advantages, scholarship quotas, and application requirements, as well as provided practical advice and information.
