The 2026 Hong Kong-Macao-Mainland Youth Legal Exchange Week was held in Beijing and Xinjiang from 12 to 18 July. Hosted by the China Law Society, the event received co-organization support from the Macao SAR Legal Affairs Bureau, the China Legal Exchange Center, Xinjiang University, and other institutions. A total of 38 law students from Hong Kong and Macao took part in the program.
Among the participants were Assistant Professor Chen Guanhong, together with three Faculty of Law students from the Macau University of Science and Technology: Chen Mingyang, Chan Hou Keng, and Huang Sihao.

The opening ceremony was held on the morning of 13 July in Beijing. Jing Hanchao, Member of the Party Leadership Group, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Law Society, attended and delivered an address.
Zhang Yong, Member of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and Member of the Constitution and Law Committee of the NPC, as well as President of the Hong Kong Basic Law and Macao Basic Law Research Society under the China Law Society, delivered a special report, elaborating on fundamental approaches and a future vision for advancing legislative collaboration in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.
In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation visited the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the CPC Central Committee. Yu Xiangjun, Deputy Director of the Eighth Bureau of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, attended the forum and delivered remarks.
Visit to the Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture Museum
Starting from 14 July, the delegation travelled to Xinjiang for the next leg of the program. Visits were arranged to Xinjiang University, Urumqi Intermediate People’s Court, the Khorgos Yilu International Legal Zone, the Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture Museum, and other venues.
Through these visits, participants deepened their understanding of national rule-of-law development, the economic achievements under the “Belt and Road Initiative”, and the diverse and integrated historical culture of the Chinese nation. The program also strengthened their sense of belonging and identity with the motherland.
On 17 July, the Exchange Week came to a successful close in Yining, Xinjiang.
