From July 19th to 20th, 2025, the Faculty of Law of the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) formed a team to participate in the FDI Moot Shenzhen 2025. The competition brought together 44 outstanding teams from Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, and Macau SAR, gathering to engage in intense competition. In addition to actively participating as a competing team, the MUST Faculty of Law continued to serve as an academic support unit for the event. Assistant Professor Wang Jia was once again invited to serve as an arbitrator.
This year, the team was guided by Assistant Professor Wang Jia and Assistant Professor Zhu Feng. The team included six students: one graduate student Wei Dongyun, specializing in international arbitration, and five undergraduates students Zhang Chengwei, Qiao Heng, Tang Tianli, Zhou Ye, and Li Jingda. After intensive preparation and moot court training, the team submitted their written memorials, and all undergraduate team members fully participated in the oral arguments. They demonstrated a strong knowledge base in investment arbitration, excellent English proficiency, and outstanding teamwork, earning widespread praise.

The FDI Moot is a prestigious global competition in Investment Arbitration, focusing on simulating the resolution of investment disputes between investors and host states using the procedures of the World Bank’s International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). It aims to enhance the training of professionals in international law, improve the English proficiency of Chinese legal talent, and strengthen their ability to engage in international legal practice. The competition is conducted entirely in English.
The MUST Faculty of Law focuses on blending theoretical and hands-on learning, prioritizing practical teaching methods. We motivate students to join international professional competitions to expand their global outlook and build well-rounded legal skills, striking a balance between teaching theory and developing practical expertise.
