On the afternoon of November 23, 2024, the Faculty of Law organized a unique "Face-to-Face with My Mentor" outdoor workshop, guiding students into the natural embrace of Coloane for a hiking and cultural exploration activity. Amid the crisp autumn air, Dean Fang Quan, Associate Professor Peng Yunpeng, and Assistant Professor Xue Wenchao led over 30 students on this journey. The event aimed to strengthen teacher-student interactions, enrich students’ extracurricular life, and immerse participants in Macau’s traditional culture and Coloane’s scenic beauty.

The hike began at Seac Pai Van Park, ascending along the Trail of Dap Sá Tóng Hill to Coloane Hilltop Park and the A-Ma Cultural Village, where the group visited Tin Hau Temple to experience the unique charm of Minnan (Southern Fujian) ancient architecture and folk culture. The participants then reached the summit of Dap Sá Tóng Hill to pay respects to the towering Mazu Statue. Mazu culture has been deeply rooted in Macau for centuries, profoundly influencing local traditions. Notably, the Portuguese name "Macau" is linked to the Mazu belief. Macau’s Mazu customs, as an integral part of China’s Mazu heritage, boast a long history, strong community ties, and unbroken continuity, earning a place on Macau’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
Light meals were provided during the activity to ensure participants stayed energized. The event concluded successfully in a joyful atmosphere, offering faculty and students an unforgettable weekend. Through relaxed conversations and physical activity, they not only strengthened their bonds but also deepened their understanding of Macau’s cultural traditions.
