In the 4th “Xiao Bao Gong Cup” Legal Empirical Analysis Essay Competition for Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau College Students (National Competition), students from the Faculty of Law of Macao University of Science and Technology (MUST) distinguished themselves among 620 submissions with their exceptional academic work. Jian Yueqi, a Master of Laws student, received the second prize in the postgraduate category for her thesis titled “Empirical Research on the Influencing Factors of Sentencing in Information Cyber Crime”, the sole author. Additionally, Yang Chenchen, an undergraduate student, earned the third prize in the undergraduate category for her thesis “The Application of Punitive Damages in Trademark Infringement Cases: An Empirical Study Based on 525 Judgments”, as the first author.

On the morning of August 20, Jian Yueqi, a student from the Faculty of Law of MUST was invited to speak at the award ceremony as the representative of the award-winning students. She expressed her gratitude to the Guangdong Province Law Society for offering competition opportunities and quality platforms that enable students from various universities to learn from one another and progress together. Additionally, she thanked the Faculty and her tutors for their encouragement and guidance in conducting empirical research.

“Xiao Bao Gong Cup” Legal Empirical Analysis Essay Competition for Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau College Students is hosted by the Guangdong Province Law Society, with several branches of the China Law Society serving as academic guidance units. These include the China Association for Legal Education, the Cyber and Information Law Society, and the Case Law Research Association of the China Law Society. This year's competition focuses on the construction of the rule of law in China, utilizing judicial big data to explore and analyze relevant issues in legal theory and practice, while also offering valuable opinions and suggestions. The competition attracted over 4,000 students from prestigious universities, including Peking University, Renmin University of China, Zhejiang University, Wuhan University, Sun Yat-sen University, and the China University of Political Science and Law.
