On the afternoon of July 24, M.U.S.T. Faculty of Law successfully held a workshop on “Teaching and Research Collaboration of the Macao Centre for Law and Finance: Experience and Prospects”. The workshop aims to review the current work situation of the center and discuss its future planning and development direction. The workshop was hosted by Associate Professor Bi Jingwei, Program Director of the Faculty of Law. Professors Cao Xia, Professor Zhu Shihai, Associate Professor Huang Mingjian, Associate Professor Shen Yunqiao, Associate Professor Peng Yunpeng, Program Director Xie Gengliang, Program Director Mou Xiaobo, Assistant Professor Zhu Feng, Assistant Professor Zhou Ting, Assistant Professor Zhou Qin, Assistant Professor Wang Wanli, Assistant Professor Liao Si, and Assistant Professor Man Tao attended.

During the workshop, Program Director Bi Jingwei first introduced the work and achievements of the center in the past year to the teachers present. Professor Bi said that in the past, Macau’s financial legal foundation was relatively weak. In recent years, the Monetary Authority of Macao has accelerated various work about legislations and law reviews. The Center has continued to adhere to the integration of teaching and research for many years, which is in response to the Macao Special Administrative Region’s policy of developing a modern financial industry. The Center hopes to further improve Macao’s financial legal system through its research. In the future, the Center will continue to rely on Macao’s advantages as “One Center, One Platform, and One Base” to strengthen exchange and cooperation with local financial and legal societies and institutions in Macao, as well as academic institutions, regulatory authorities, legislative bodies, professional associations, and other related organizations in surrounding areas. This collaboration is designed to promote the sustainable development of teaching, research, and practical work.

The “Macao Centre for Law and Finance” was officially established in 2020 with the approval of the University. It is committed to building a high-level international research base and high-end think tank with Macau characteristics and a global vision, combining theory and practice around law and finance. The center aims to serve Macau and the country’s construction of the financial legal system and participation in new developments in global financial legal theoretical research. Additionally, in conjunction with financial law-related subjects and courses such as the Bachelor of Laws and the Master of Financial Crime and Regulation of the Faculty of Law, provides students extracurricular study activities in related fields.

This is the 2nd summer workshop of the Faculty of Law in 2024. The M.U.S.T. Faculty of Law will hold several workshops during the summer to facilitate the exchange of teaching and research experiences among faculty members. This initiative is designed to establish a strong foundation and ensure continuous enhancement of the teaching staff, curriculum development, talent cultivation, and research in teaching within the faculty and affiliated institutions.
