Faculty of Law Students Participated in the 2024 Dalian Maritime University Hong Kong and Macau Student Summer Training Program

2024/07/19

In order to strengthen maritime exchanges and cooperation between Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao, and deepen the understanding of shipping legal knowledge among students from Hong Kong and Macao, three students from the Faculty of Law participated in the Dalian Maritime University Hong Kong and Macau Student Summer Training Program. This program is part of the “Ten Thousand People’s Program”, from June 25 to July 5.

In addition to our faculty, this summer training program also attracted a total of 26 students from Hong Kong and Macao attending the University of Hong Kong and the University of Macau. The content of this summer program is enriched and innovative, combining theory with practice. It provides Chinese shipping law courses and practical training as a carrier, offering a good platform and opportunity for students from Hong Kong and Macao to understand the motherland and to foster communication and friendship among teachers and students from the three regions.

This year, three students from the Faculty of Law participated in a training program. They expressed their appreciation to the faculty for the valuable opportunity and mentioned that the trip was fruitful. In addition to learning about maritime knowledge and shipping laws, the students also had the chance to experience simulated ship driving and legal practice, which helped them develop a deeper interest and understanding of the maritime sector.

The Faculty of Law of Macau University of Science and Technology places great emphasis on exchanges and collaboration with mainland universities. It actively engages in the “Teacher and Student Exchange Program for Higher Education Institutions in Hong Kong, Macau, and Chinese Mainland” (referred to as the “Ten Thousand People’s Program”). This program has become a crucial link between the Faculty of Law and mainland universities. It serves as a significant platform for our students to gain insights into the mainland legal system and culture. Simultaneously, it offers mainland universities an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the M.U.S.T. Faculty of Law and Macao. The Faculty of Law will persist in its mission and objective of “Based on Macao, oriented towards the global arena, nurturing local and interdisciplinary legal talents through multiculturalism.” It will continue to provide a wide range of high-quality exchange opportunities for faculty teachers and students, fostering cooperation with mainland universities.
