On April 27, 2024, Dean Huang Wenyi and the delegation from Renmin University of China Law School visited the Faculty of Law of Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.). Dean Fang Quan, Assistant Dean Yi Zaicheng, Program Director Xie Gengliang and Associate Professor Shen Yunqiao attended the reception. They were accompanied by Zhu Hu, Vice Dean of the Law School of Renmin University of China, and Dr. Li Jun, head of the International Exchange Department at Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office of the same school.

On behalf of the faculty, Dean Fang Quan extended a warm welcome to Dean Huang Wenyi and the delegation. He introduced the school’s number of students, teaching staff, curriculum, teaching and research characteristics, academic platform, and external exchanges and cooperation to the guests. Dean Fang Quan mentioned that the Faculty of Law, as one of the four established faculties of the University, has been implementing the principle of “One country, two systems” in the field of legal education in the SAR since its inception. The faculty is dedicated to nurturing interdisciplinary legal professionals who have a strong affection for the country and Macao. Actively involved in promoting the rule of law in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, the faculty is creating a platform and link for legal education and research both within and outside China. Notably, the faculty has spearheaded the establishment of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Intellectual Property Law Alliance. Renmin University Law School, the premier law school in mainland China, is eager to collaborate on resource exploration, expansion of focus areas, and deepening teaching and research cooperation between the two institutions in the future.
Dean Huang Wenyi expressed his appreciation to the Faculty of Law for leveraging its geographical advantages and shaping the characteristics of cross-domain legal talent training and comparative law research over more than 20 years. He also presented the recent development plan and key focus areas of Renmin University of China Law School, particularly highlighting the strategic initiatives in building the rule of law in the Greater Bay Area. Dean Huang emphasized that Renmin University Law School will utilize research institutes in Guangdong as a foundation to actively engage in establishing the rule of law in the Greater Bay Area. He expressed his desire to leverage the geographical advantages of the Faculty of Law of M.U.S.T. to foster deep collaboration in training legal talents related to foreign affairs, intellectual property rights, digital law, and other academic fields. Through a comprehensive and close partnership, the two institutions aim to jointly usher in a new era of Chinese rule of law civilization.
During the conference, the participants from both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges and extensive discussions. It is anticipated that they will further leverage their respective advantages in the future, deepen interdisciplinary integration, establish a platform for teacher-student exchanges and academic research, and collaborate to promote the innovative development of legal education and legal research.
