The Faculty of Law and the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration Co-sponsored a series of activities “Overseas Chinese Arbitration Sharing Session”

On the afternoon of March 30, the Faculty of Law of Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) and the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) co-sponsored the 7th session of the “Overseas China Town Arbitration Sharing Session”: focusing on the impact of the new “Company Law” on the arbitration of corporate disputes and sharing coping strategies. This event took place at the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration Jiangmen Center (Jiangmen Arbitration Commission) and was hosted by the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration Jiangmen Center and the Research Centre for Arbitration and Dispute Resolution of the Faculty of Law of M.U.S.T.

Before the event started, Mr. Huang Guoyong, Deputy Secretary-General of the Jiangmen Municipal Party Committee, Director of the International Cooperation and Development Division of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration, Director of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration Jiangmen Center (Jiangmen Arbitration Commission); and Professor Yi Zaicheng, Arbitrator of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration, and Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Law of Macau University of Science and Technology, delivered a welcome speech.

 This sharing session specially invited Dr. Zhou Linbin, Arbitrator of the SCIA, Professor of the Sun Yat-sen University School of Law, and Vice President of the Commercial Law Research Society of the China Law Society, to give a speech titled “Interpretation of the ‘Problems’ of the New Company Law from the Perspective of Legal Application”. Additionally, Mr. Goo Say Hak, a professor of the University of Hong Kong Faculty of Law and Founder and Former Director of the Asian Institute of International Financial Law, delivered a speech on “How to Implement Corporate Social Responsibility”.

In the roundtable forum, Associate Professor Shen Yunqiao, Arbitrator of the SCIA and Director of the Research Centre for Arbitration and Dispute Resolution of the Faculty of Law of M.U.S.T., served as the moderator. Mr. Peng Mingzhi, Arbitrator of the Jiangmen Arbitration Commission and Senior Partner of Beijing Dacheng Law Offices, LLP (“大成”); Mr. Yuan Qiang, Director of Guangzhou Data Exchange; Mr. Shang Dongning, Arbitrator of the Jiangmen Arbitration Commission and Legal Director of Midea Real Estate Group Co., Ltd.; and Mr. Li Linwei, Arbitrator of the Jiangmen Arbitration Commission and Director of the Legal Department of Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute Co. Ltd of China Energy Engineering Group (GEDI), served as forum speakers. Focusing on the causes of corporate disputes and arbitration, they jointly discussed the changes and development of state-owned enterprises, digital technology enterprises, and real estate enterprises as well as the challenges and strategies of corporate governance and social responsibility under the background of the implementation of the new company law.

Nearly 100 representatives from the legal profession, business community, and university students from Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region, and other places participated in this sharing session.
