Faculty of Law Hosts Faculty Summer Workshop on Graduate Student Education

2025/08/14

On  August 13, the Law School successfully held a faculty summer workshop on "Graduate Student Education." The event was chaired by Program Director Mou Xiaobo and Program Director Bi Jingwei, Program Directors of the undergraduate curriculum, and was attended by the majority of the faculty.

During the workshop, the participating teachers discussed issues related to graduate education based on their experiences as doctoral supervisors. Particular attention was paid to academic integrity in thesis writing in the era of AI. Supervisors were encouraged to emphasize the importance of academic integrity to their students, engage in in-depth discussions on the consequences of academic misconduct, and explore ways to adhere to academic ethics. Students should be reminded to ensure the authenticity and accuracy of cited sources when referencing literature. Additionally, supervisors should urge students to take initiative in self-discipline, maintain active communication with their supervisors, and cherish opportunities to develop research skills during their studies. Graduate students were also encouraged to actively participate in academic conferences, seminars, and other scholarly exchange activities to enhance their academic capabilities and build professional networks.

In September of this year, the Faculty of Law will welcome its first cohort of doctoral students in the Doctor of Laws Program. It is hoped that supervisors will adopt innovative and tailored approaches to talent development, providing diversified and personalized guidance to help students broaden their international perspectives. The goal is to cultivate their ability to conduct in-depth research on cutting-edge, significant, complex, and interdisciplinary issues in legal practice, equipping them to exercise professional leadership and play a guiding role in their future legal careers.
