MUST Faculty of Law Showcases Innovative Legal Education at Open Day with Diverse Activities

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), the 2025 MUST Open Day was successfully held on February 23, 2025. The Faculty of Law captivated visitors with a range of activities, including programme consultation booths, course introduction sessions, and an exciting legal debate competition. These events highlighted the Faculty’s teaching strengths and academic achievements, offering a platform for aspiring legal professionals to engage deeply with faculty and students. The day attracted numerous secondary school students, parents, and community members.


Programme Consultation Booth: One-on-One Guidance for Prospective Students

At the consultation booth in Block R’s lobby, the Faculty’s administrative team provided personalized advice on undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programmes. Through interactive Q&A sessions, they introduced: unique features of law degrees at all levels, application procedures and scholarship opportunities, student experiences in moot court competitions, overseas academic exchanges, and internships at local law firms. The booth drew significant interest, with many students and parents gaining clarity on future academic pathways.

Course Introduction Sessions: Exploring Programmes and Career Prospects

Led by faculty members including Programme Director Xie Gengliang (Bachelor’s), Programme Director Mou Xiaobo (Master’s), Programme Director Bi Jingwei (Doctoral), and Assistant Professor Zhou Ting, the sessions delved into: curriculum structures, admission policies, and internship opportunities, specializations such as international law, comparative law, cross-jurisdictional legal studies, and interdisciplinary legal research, alumni success stories showcasing the Faculty’s globally aligned resources and career advantages. Attendees praised the sessions for broadening their understanding of legal professions and inspiring future academic choices.


Legal Debate Competition: Students Shine in Intellectual Showdown

Co-organized by the Faculty and its Student Union, the Legal Debate Competition emerged as the Open Day’s highlight. Held in the Faculty’s mock courtroom, students debated pressing legal issues, including: privacy concerns in personal data and facial recognition technology, ethical and legal challenges of gene editing and social media regulation. Participants demonstrated rigorous legal reasoning, quick thinking, and eloquent articulation, earning applause from the audience.

The competition was evaluated by a distinguished panel: Assistant Professor Wong Weng Kuok,  Assistant Professor Wang Wanli,  Assistant Professor Chen Qin,  Assistant Professor Guo Yiting,  Assistant Professor Man Tao, and Assistant Professor Gong Xiaohan. Judges provided feedback on argument structure, legal application, and presentation skills, encouraging students to tackle complex issues as a foundation for future careers. The event exemplified the Faculty’s “competition-driven learning” approach, nurturing critical thinkers for the legal profession.


The Open Day served as a vital bridge between the Faculty and the community. Moving forward, the Faculty will continue to refine curriculum design to meet societal needs, cultivate innovative legal talents with patriotic commitment and international perspectives, align with national development goals and contributing to Macau’s integration into the Greater Bay Area and beyond. By blending academic rigor with real-world engagement, the MUST Faculty of Law reaffirmed its role as a leader in shaping the next generation of legal professionals.
