The signing of this agreement will leverage the Faculty of Law’s strengths in talent cultivation and theoretical research in intellectual property (IP) and the Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court’s practical expertise in judicial IP protection. It aims to foster the organic integration of industry, academia, research, and legal practice, directly responding to the requirements of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to strengthen judicial cooperation and talent development. This initiative also marks a significant step in deepening innovative collaboration between Macau and mainland judicial institutions and academic entities. Moving forward, both parties will seize this opportunity to jointly enhance the intellectual property protection standards in the Greater Bay Area from theoretical and practical perspectives, advancing the region’s goal of becoming an internationally renowned hub for IP protection.

The symposium was guided by the Guangdong Provincial High People’s Court, hosted by the Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court, and co-organized by the Guangdong Intellectual Property Protection Association. Scholars and judges engaged in discussions across three key topics, Judicial Protection of Intellectual Property and the Greater Bay Area’s Open Competitiveness, Judicial Protection of Intellectual Property and the Development of New Quality Productive Forces and Judicial Protection of Intellectual Property and the Growth of the Digital Industry. Professor Yi Zaicheng, assistant dean of the MUST Faculty of Law, delivered a keynote speech during the first thematic session.
