On the afternoon of September 27, 2024, the Faculty of Law held an undergraduate orientation lecture for the 2024/2025 academic year titled "Legal Career and Academic Development Planning" in Room O702, Block O. The lecture was hosted by Assistant Professor Xie Gengliang, the director of undergraduate programs. Alumni He Shukui, a 2021 Doctor of Philosophy in Law graduate, Chen Shutong, a 2021 LL.B. graduate (attending online), and Fang Haocheng, a 2023 LL.B. graduate (attending online) from the Faculty of Law, shared their learning and career experiences to illustrate future development directions and industry trends for the students. The event attracted nearly 180 freshmen, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere.

This lecture began with a presentation by alumnus Fang Haocheng, who graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the Faculty of Law at MUST in 2023. Following his graduation, he pursued further studies at Duke University in the United States. Alumnus Fang Haocheng encouraged students to develop clear academic and career plans. In addition to their personal interests, he emphasized the importance of considering social development trends when selecting a suitable career path. Using his own journey through the Faculty of Law at MUST as a foundation, he analyzed the employment landscape and future opportunities, drawing on his experiences in the Master of Laws (LL.M.) program in the United States.

Later, alumna Chen Shutong also shared her experiences online. Chen Shutong is an LL.B. graduate from the Faculty of Law at MUST, having completed her degree in 2021. After graduation, she pursued further studies at Leiden University in the Netherlands and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland. Chen shared her learning experiences from her undergraduate studies and two postgraduate programs. She outlined her college life planning for freshmen in three stages: adaptation, growth, and getting on track. Chen encouraged students to maintain a healthy balance between in-class assignments and extracurricular activities during their studies. While engaging in intense study, she urged them to take bold steps, break through their own limitations, and participate in various competitions and activities while maintaining excellent grades. This approach not only enriches their college experience but also enhances their applications to their ideal universities.

The final presentation was delivered by alumnus He Shukui, co-founder of the Beijing Jingshi Law Firm's Shenzhen Office and director of the Commercial Arbitration Legal Committee of the Shenzhen Lawyers Association. Alumnus He Shukui discussed the current status and scale of arbitration institutions and law firms in Guangdong Province, urging students to contribute to the development of the legal industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in the future. He also shared his personal learning experiences, encouraging students to focus on a comprehensive study of law. Additionally, he suggested that students participate in more court hearings to enhance their practical understanding and to analyze legal issues through specific cases.
