The Faculty of Law successfully conducted two lectures for new master's students in September

In September 2024, the Faculty of Law successfully conducted two orientation lectures for new master's students to help them adapt to postgraduate academic life and provide guidance and support for their studies and research in the field of law. The themes of the lectures were “Guidelines for Master's Program Study Procedures and Promotion of Competitive Activities” and “Gateway to Legal Research”. The orientation lecture series received positive feedback from the freshmen, attracting nearly 300 participants in total.

The lecture titled "Guidelines for Master's Program Study Procedures and Promotion of Competitive Activities" was held in room O702, Block O, on the afternoon of September 12, 2024. The event was hosted by Assistant Professor Mou Xiaobo, Director of the Graduate Program at the Faculty of Law, and co-led by Associate Professor Peng Yunpeng, Assistant Professor Mou Xiaobo and Assistant Professor Xue Wenchao. Professor Mou Xiaobo first explained in detail the study procedures of master's program of the Faculty of Law to the freshmen, including academic rules, study arrangements, specific study procedures, thesis writing and defense, non-taught subjects, graduation qualifications and other important contents, hoping to help students understand the requirements for completion of the program and how to plan learning progress. Professors Peng Yunpeng and Xue Wenchao introduced to the students various representative academic competitions that the faculty team participated in, hoping to encourage more students to seize precious opportunities, improve their academic level and practical ability, and move towards the road of success.

The "Gateway to Legal Research" lecture took place in room O702, Block O, on the morning of September 13, 2024. This lecture aimed to explore the nature of legal research and the methods for conducting it. Assistant Professor Mou Xiaobo, the director of the Graduate Program at the Faculty of Law, served as the moderator, while Assistant Professor Zhou Ting was the keynote speaker. Professor Zhou emphasized that graduate programs focus on generating new knowledge and require students to actively engage with the field of law. He introduced the structure of legal research, the format for thesis writing, commonly used methods for literature acquisition, and recommended books on research methodologies. Additionally, he provided comprehensive guidance to new graduate students to help them efficiently locate and utilize information in their academic pursuits.
